Two posters (only small, I'm afraid) from the Australian romstercom, $quid (Aust-2009; dir. Daley Pearson and Luke Tierney) have surfaced (as it were), along with a picture of (I think) Lauren Lillie. If you look closely at the logo, maybe you can see the $quid tangled in the lettering:

O.C. Babes and the Slasher of Zombietown

This zombie comedy sports a risqué poster, a writer/director with an odd name (Creep Creepersin) and a strange tagline: "The Zombies of Orange County are Trapped by Zombies From Orange County". (IMDb)

Synopsis/Comment:

OC Babes and the Slasher of Zombietown is a horror/comedy.

The night seems like any other for Sean and Ed, filled with rejection. That is until a half eaten woman runs into the bar and warns them about zombies outside. Once they lock the bar up they start dropping like flies. They soon notice though that not everything is what it seems and not all people are who you think they are.

OC Babes and the Slasher of Zombietown is a low budget horror/comedy that is full of horror pop culture. the film is intercut with George Romero's Night of the Living Dead to help tell the story. This movie is an exercise is low-budget film making in that it was shot in less than 24 hours. It is good, old-fashioned exploitation film making at its finest. (Amazon.com)

Though no longer available from Amazon ("manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media"), it will apparently be available under the Midnight Releasing/Brain Damage Films label in July 2009.

From the looks of the behind-the-scenes snapshot, the making of the film was quite a headache for some members of the cast!

Update: Mortis Rex

More conceptual art for Mortis Rex, the Ancient Romans vs Giant Demonic Monster flick that is currently in production, has turned up on Bloody-Disgusting -- and like that released previously images, they're beautifully done and evoke considerable atmosphere. Click on them to see them large.

Update: Metallic Attraction: Kungfu Cyborg

Information on Jeffrey Lau's Metallic Attraction: Kungfu Cyborg has cropped up, including the fact that the film has been acquired for release in the US. Go here to check it out the details.

Of interest is the release of the official poster, which asks the perennially interesting question "Why can't a cyborg question his creator like men question God?" Why not indeed? I hope the film lives up to the metaphysical profundity of its premise.

Mind you, when the cyborg is as big as that one, I guess it can do whatever it likes...

New: It Ate His Face

Nice title, eh? It's the Truth-in-Advertising title of a new independent horror flick that features rampaging prehistoric parasites. From the trailer they don't appear to be particularly large, but they are insistent.

Synopsis:

After setting out to research an unknown section of the great lakes in Michigan, four adventurous students find themselves battling crazed rednecks, and something lurking in the water the hasn’t evolved in over 250 million years. This prehistoric parasitic monster has turned the once quintessential eco-system in this small town flat on its back and all living creatures are soon finding themselves prey to it. Initially distracted by the good time they are having and the loss of their friend’s brother in a sick and twisted unexplained accident only a month before, they find themselves trapped in a gruesome situation as old as time itself - will they kill or be killed? Dinocorman vs Supercorman

First Roger Corman, B Film King, brought us Dinocroc (US-2004; dir. Kevin O'Neill), which featured genetic experimentation using the DNA of a prehistoric predator that has a one-night stand with the DNA of a modern-day crocodile, resulting in bloody hybrid-monster rampage.

Then Rog decided to produce an unofficial sequel called Supergator (US-2007; dir. Brian Clyde) that featured genetic experimentation using the fossilised DNA of a prehistoric alligator, resulting in bloody hybrid-monster rampage.

Now we hear that the busy Jim Wynorski is set to direct Dinocroc vs Supergator (though frankly I'm disappointed that Corman has left his proposed Dino Shark out of the mix). I have no official idea what it will be about but I suspect it will feature genetic experimentation and that the two revived dino-creatures will go on a bloody hybrid-monster rampage, culminating in a punch-up of prehistoric proportions.

Hey, it's what genetic experimentation is for!
