Getting into the Bio-Slime

Below are three Behind-the-Scenes Clips for Bio-Slime (US-[in post-production, 2009]; dir. John Lechago). Warning: the last one contains invisible nudity...

And there's more here.

Update: Assault Girls

Japanese girls in leather gear, with guns! Killing giant worms!

It's Assault Girls (Japan-2009; dir. Mamoru Oshii). Read about it on Undead Backbrain.

Basically it's about three female hunters on a desert battlefield, fighting Suna Kujira (literally, sand whales), with assault guns and other futuristic weapons. The biggest worm is Madara Suna Kujira (spotted sand whale).

I wonder if there's a plot?

Now, courtesy of Quiet Earth, here's the trailer:

Update: Archangel Alpha

Archangel Alpha (US-[in production, 2009]; dir. Aaron D. Martin)

Synopsis:
Four friends have their relationships pushed to the breaking point when they find themselves on opposite sides of a war that threatens to spiral into nuclear Armageddon.
Director of the post-apocalyptic scifi romance Archangel Alpha (check Undead Backbrain for details) has been in touch to say that a brand-new trailer is almost ready... and the film now has a Facebook page.

Meanwhile here's the newest poster:

Can't wait to see those giant robots!

Avatar

James Cameron's much-anticipated (and long-in-development) scifi epic Avatar is now on the way. Here's the newly released trailer, featuring some nice big critters toward the end, as has become fashionable in just about every genre epic:

Synopsis:
In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture. (IMDb)

Images of Raiga

Kaiju Search-Robot Avery has gathered some great new pictures of the titular kaiju from Shinkaijû Raiga [aka Deep Sea Monster Raiga] (2009; dir. Shinpei Hayashiya). (See Undead Backbrain article)

Less monstrous are the three very popular pop starlets Enosawa Manami, Urata Mao and Oriyama Miyu, who sing a number of songs in the film, written by director Shinpei Hayashiya. At least two of their songs have already been released as CD singles and are hitting the charts big-time in Japan. Here they show off their Raiga t-shirts in a kaleidoscopic display of primary-coloured Japanese teenage cuteness.

The Infestation Begins

Giant-sized insects swarming. And there's not enough bug spray in the world to deal with them. Infestation (US-2009; dir. Kyle Rankin) premieres 8 August on SyFy in the US, and on DVD in October.

Synopsis:
Our hero, Cooper, awakes to find himself nauseous, weak and covered in webbing, hanging from the ceiling of an office where, just minutes ago, he started his new job. As he struggles out of his slimy prison he comes face to face with his opponent - a grotesque, powerful and very angry bug. All 3 ft of it. And so begins a hideous, nail-biting, comedic, all-action adventure to find a safe haven while constantly outwitting an infestation of monstrous proportions. As Cooper embarks on his journey, he befriends a ragtag group of survivors including Sara, a feisty attractive female. Although the situation is dire, Cooper can't help himself from trying to solve his dating problem while trying to save his life. Will they make it to safety before they are picked off one by one? And what other surprises are in store for our group of unlikely heroes? (IMDb)
Below there's a bunch of pictures, mostly featuring star Chris Marquette with his mouth open. No giant insects unfortunately, mouths open or otherwise.

This one actually looks pretty good, despite the inevitable comedic approach. Check out the trailer on Undead Brainspasm.

Incidentally, is that tennis racket Marquette is holding in the poster above the US version of Simon Pegg's cricket bat? Shaun of the Dead was a zomromcom -- and this one looks like an insectromcom. Substitute zombies for insects and the plot sounds very similar. Coincidence?
