Exclusive: First Teaser for Chompers 3D

Director Jesse Blanchard has sent Undead Backbrain the first teaser trailer for his "ass-kicking, fun-to-watch" monster flick Chompers 3D, which we featured on Undead Brainspasm in February. The trailer is in 3D, so you'll need some two-colour anaglyph 3D glasses. If you need guidance in this regard, visit the Chompers 3D website, where you can learn how to get some.

Teaser Trailer:

The central concept -- of a creature that "starts out very small, hiding as a ring or a thimble, always something round, waiting for a victim to place her hand inside his mouth, but each time he feeds, getting a little bigger and a little better at camouflage" -- is a great one with terrific potential for a cult-fannish future, along the lines of films such as Gremlins.

Corman vs Sharktopus: Shocking News!

News from behind the scenes of Sharktopus (directed by Declan O'Brien) -- the SyFy Channel mutant shark flick that's sweeping the internet -- reveals that all has not been sweetness and light. The following YouTube statement from producer Roger Corman tells it all:

As the film premieres on the SyFy Channel this Saturday (in North America), paparazzi shots of Sharktopus throwing tantrums and beating up on his co-stars have come to light. Here are some of them:

It's sad to see how easily success can strangle the cognitive ganglia of a new star on the cusp of their big break-through -- well before we've even seen if they have the chops to make a go of acting beyond the confines of an ocean-FX tank and a trailer or two.

Want To Be In A Monster Movie?

If you've always wanted to be a giant monster movie and live in the vicinity of Newport, Wales, in the UK -- or are willing to go there -- now's your chance.

A casting call has gone out for two actors to take part in a film called "A Monster Movie", in which you will get to trash a city.

Described as "a comedy" and "a frank, entertaining allegory for the current financial crises", the film is to be directed by Marc Holtbecker and made by a student crew from the MA Film course at the International Film School Wales.

It is the story of a woman and the bank manager who denies her the loan that she desperately needs. In their imagination they start to fight a battle as gigantic superheroes, set in the cardboard metropole amidst the great tradition of giant monster movies. Eventually, the Credit Crunch Monster brings it all to an end...
