Remember we promised details of Brett Kelly's upcoming zombie musical, My Fair Zombie some time ago?

Well, it's a comedic musical version of Pygmalion with a zombie twist. It stars Sacha Gabriel (singer of the lounge-core band My Tiny  Circus) as Zombie Elisa and Lawrence Evenchick (star of many stage productions in Ottawa, Canada) as Henry Higgins. Barry Caiger (Attack of the Giant Leeches) plays Colonel Pickering.

And the trailer has just gone live! Brief but tantalizing!

Update: Jurassic Shark Trailer Debuts

The trailer for Jurassic Shark, Brett Kelly's contribution to the killer shark sub-genre of creature features -- currently undergoing some sort of upsurge -- has been released, filming having wrapped just a while back.

Looks like classic Kelly.

Low-budget Superhero Antics

In this age of multi-squillion dollar SFX-driven superhero blockbusters, which have been inordinately successful in retrieving the superhero film from obscurity, it's not usual to see a low-budget independent feature film based on superhero traditions appear. Prolific B-film auteur, Brett Kelly's latest film, however, is just such a beast. It's called Avenging Force: The Scarab and is due to premiere at a screening on the 26th April.

Have She-Rex Around for Christmas!

Prolific independent filmmaker Brett Kelly has asked Avery to remind readers that his latest dino epic -- "a tribute to the classic comedy of yesteryear" -- is now available on DVD.

Slapstick "buddy" humour (ala Abbott and Costello and the Ritz Brothers)! A lost island jungle! Lots of sexy cave-gals in fake fur and the huge T-Rex that they worship! In the same vein as Queen Kong, Caveman, Africa Screams, and other wacky horror/comedy monster romps of days of old! No digital dinosaurs employed! All stunts performed totally without CGI! What more can you possibly need for Christmas?

Oh, did I mention the gorilla?

Low-budget genre auteur Brett Kelly's prehysterical dino-comedy She-Rex has just wrapped and can be downloaded from The Content Bay for viewing on your PC/Mac. It will be released to DVD very shortly (27 November).

Synopsis:

Dan and Stan are the world's greatest adventurers -- at least in their own minds! When the two morons are sent to a lost island to rescue a wealthy pair of treasure hunters, chaos ensues. The adventurers encounter a tribe of sexy jungle girls who worship a flesh-eating T-Rex! She-Rex is a tribute to the classic comedy of yesteryear.

Brett Kelly, director of the new remake of Attack of the Giant Leeches, has been in touch to let us know that the DVD will now be available on 12 May, not the earlier announced April date.

New: The Scarab

We've been sent some exclusive shots from a superhero flick by busy independent filmmaker Brett Kelly (Attack of the Giant Leeches remake, Pirates: Quest for Snake Island, Iron Soldier) , who was interviewed at length on Undead Backbrain a while ago. The film is called The Scarab and it's based on the 1940s Nedor Comics hero.

A superhero tale of a hero attempting to keep his nemesis from acquiring an ancient scroll of extreme power. It is up to THE SCARAB and his mysterious associates to keep the evil SPHINX from using this power for his own vile ends.

Characters include:

• PETER WARD - our protagonist, archaeology professor who in the course of the story becomes the hero, The Scarab.
• THE WOMAN IN RED - A mysterious female spy who always appears clothed in red.
• PROFESSOR JOAB - Peter's mentor, a scientist who brings the mysterious scarab stone to Peter's attention.
